About
5-MeO-DMT.
AscentFive is an independent 5-MeO-DMT practice in Amsterdam.
The five pillars5-MeO-DMT is a potent, rapid-acting psychedelic. People commonly describe states of unity, a dissolving of the sense of a separate self, and strong physical and emotional release. Clinical research is early and narrow: a 2026 randomised trial of one manufactured formulation in treatment-resistant depression reported a substantial short-term effect in 81 selected adults, measured over days rather than months, with most of those who improved needing retreatment later. That is a promising signal in one condition, one formulation and one carefully screened group. It is not an established treatment, and it is not evidence for other conditions.
Compared with psilocybin or LSD, 5-MeO-DMT is usually described as less visual and more inward. Research describes its activity at serotonin receptors, including 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A. Receptor activity does not by itself explain what an experience is like, let alone what it means to the person having it, and experiences differ between people—neither bliss nor any particular interpretation is guaranteed. “A direct encounter with boundless consciousness” is one account among many, not a description of what everyone finds.
The Pillars
of AscentFive.
- 01
Non-Dualism as the Foundation
Non-dualism is the question at the centre of the practice: whether the sense of being a self, set apart from everything else, is as solid as it feels. We hold it as an inquiry rather than a doctrine, and nobody has to adopt a belief to take it seriously. People often describe 5-MeO-DMT experiences in these terms. An experience is not a proof, and what it means is left to the person who had it.

Healing Through Integration
Integration is where the work is: the slow business of making sense of an experience and letting it change how someone lives. Preparation and reflection — breathwork, meditation, conversation — belong to that, before and after. What we will not promise is an outcome. Insight does not automatically become change, difficult material can surface afterwards, and trauma deserves the attention of a qualified clinician rather than a single experience.

Personal Development: The Ascent to Self-Mastery
Curiosity about how you live is reason enough to take an interest in this. What people take away varies widely: some describe a shift in creativity, priorities or a sense of purpose; for others little changes; for some it is unsettling. Whether an insight becomes anything durable depends on the months afterwards rather than on the experience itself, which is why we would rather say so than promise growth.

Ethical Stewardship and Safety
We work with synthetic 5-MeO-DMT, and treat consent, confidentiality and harm reduction as conditions of the work rather than features of it. We will not tell you that every experience is safe: it can be physically and emotionally overwhelming, health history and medication interactions matter, and care reduces risk without removing it.

Community and Shared Practice
AscentFive brings people together, through retreats and shared practice as much as through individual work. A lot of what makes an experience useful afterwards happens in company: being able to describe it to someone, and hearing how others made sense of theirs. That is what a group offers. We would not claim more than that.
